Synchronous eLearning
Simultaneous participation of all learners and instructors at different locations. This is often a scheduled delivery of content and is real-time interaction. This can be done through online conferencing, webinars etc using immediate two-way communication.
Asynchronous eLearning
Learners and instructors are not required to participate simultaneous. The learning event is not in real time, which provides the learners with more control over the learning process and content. Examples of this is videos, online courses through LMS, sending and receiving assignments or documentation, discussion boards etc.
